Have you ever wished you could get on some starship and go and never come back; just get aboard and go, travel the galaxy, see interesting planets with aliens, observe their habits, interact with them to some limited extent, then get back in the ship and go to the next place, home as a memory but life as a trajectory. Write in your little notebook.
But it must have occured to you that your life here is not so different, the only thing missing really is the annoyance and nausea of space travel, which given how no one likes spending too much time on public transportation, is probably ideal. Plus you can breathe the atmosphere, have lattes, even communicate sometimes, in a way. Also there's the internet. So it's great! Here you are on their planet, observing the aliens and their habits, but never at home.
Of course what it really is, is that you are the alien.
